Lemon Peppermint Foot Scrub

This Lemon and Peppermint foot scrub was really fun and easy to make. No heating required! My boss’s birthday was coming up and I needed a birthday gift, she is one of the best people I have ever worked with so I needed this to be special. I appreciate her hard work and she is incredibly encouraging. I noticed this woman is always on her feet! Some days I’m tired just watching her go around the office. So I figured why not a foot scrub to show her feet some love?!

My boss knows all about my blog (did I mention she is super supportive) and my love for DIY. After taking stock of all the materials I knew this would be easy and allow me time make her a salve (find the recipe here) to combat her migraines.

What You Need

Now the scrub filled an 8-ounce jar pretty nicely. So adjust the measurements based on the size container you are using.

½ Cup of Epsom Salt

½ Cup of Dead Sea Salt (Fine)

¼ Teaspoon Vitamin E

1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil

1 Small Lemon

Peppermint Essential Oil

Lemon Essential Oil (optional)

My Tools

A Metal Bowl

1 Spoon

Just 1 Knife

1 Grater

Measuring Cups

Measuring Spoons

dry ingredients

How To Make The Thing

The first thing I did was combine the Epsom Salt and the Dead Sea Salt into the bowl. Next I grated the lemon peel for my own zest. I used the small side and it ended up kind of disappearing into the salt so you might want to try the bigger holes if you want it to be visible in the mix.

I grated the lemon zest right into the scrub mix. Once I was satisfied with the amount of zest I had, I cut the lemon in half and squeezed the juice directly into the bowl. Using the spoon I mixed the beginnings of the scrub together. I set the lemon aside to go into the trash, we are done with it now and added the Vitamin E as well as the coconut oil. Mix it up!

My scrub had a lovely yellow tint to it so I did not add any coloring to it. I added a few drops of peppermint since it is a pretty strong scent. If you find it smells a little too strong of the peppermint added the drops of lemon essential oil to balance it out. Give it another good mix and that’s it.

Pour it into an airtight container then that’s it. You’re done!

Things To Note

If your mixture is too wet add equal parts Epsom Salt and Dead Sea Salt to absorb the moisture.

Feel free to add some coloring to the mix, it will look really lovely in a glass container.

I wouldn’t store this in an a way it could absorb outside moisture.

The scrub can also make a good foot soaker too! Don’t be afraid to experiment a bit.

Also if you don’t have any Dead Sea Salt on hand Fine Pink Himalayan Salt should work just fine.

The End Result

My boss loved her gift!! She thought it smelled amazing and could not wait to try it. I put my own sticker on it with my logo and attached a cute little string to it. If you are in search of a thoughtful this was definitely a hit. I love how pretty it looked in the jar and not to mention she can reuse the jar once the contents are gone.

Of course whatever use you have in mind for it, you won’t regret making this gem for yourself.

Happy Crafting!!
