CBD is an exploding market. Everyone is talking about it, everyone is using it meanwhile many don’t quite understand what it is. A lot of people cannot seem to get passed the face it is associated with marijuana. But they are missing out, to be sure. CBD has done a lot for me personally and even inspired me to start a business. That is how much I believe in it. I want to make sure that everyone understands that, while it works different for each person much like any medicine, it should be really considered as an alternative to many prescription or over the counter medicine.

What’s What

Let’s start at the beginning. What in the world is CBD, like really? Well first off, using CBD is not going to get you high, not even a little bit. Now the break down is kinda straightforward, if it has 0.3 or less its hemp and more than 0.3 is marijuana. Now, I’m talking about hemp based CBD. With such a small amount of THC you won’t get high but the general relief that marijuana can give. It can alleviate, pain, depression, anxiety even skin issues like acne and eczema. CBD does have psychoactive properties which is how it can help balance your mood but not get you high. It’s like taking a prescribed anti-depressant. It helps balance you out but without all the harsh chemicals.

Fun Fact: Hemp plants used for CBD are actually female plants.

The THC even in such a small amount along with the other terpenes and cannabinoids found in hemp based CBD offers what is called the “entourage effect” which is just a fancy way of saying it uses the whole plant to its full effect. In fact, CBD and marijuana have been used for thousands of years. Even here in the United States, it was a major crop back in the 1600’s. CBD is still being researched to understand its full effects of the body but through the studies that have been done we discovered crucial details about the body. CBD has a unique way of working with what you got and providing balance where its needed. So, CBD is indeed just a plant no different than using turmeric for colds.

Using CBD Effectively

There are many ways to use CBD. I personally prefer to use it topically over taking it orally. That’s because its just how it works best for me, now Jan might be the opposite but you have to find what works best for you. I have a very good friend who did not believe me when I said CBD saved me from my never-ending pain. I mean my knee, my neck, my lower back, my body is a mess! Now, she was taking orally so I gave her some of the balm I make and it worked like a charm. She was wondering what weird magic I put in it, answer… CBD duh!

Just like when being prescribed a new medication by your doctor, you start small and increase as needed. It’s the same with CBD, start small see how your body reacts and increase or decrease from there. Naturally, just because it works for one person does not mean it will work well for another. Find your product. If you need to put it in your tea before bed to sleep then great, I need to rub it into my skin to get its full effect.

There is a book called, The CBD Oil Miracle, that says “start low, go slow,” and listen to your body. They also stress that a little CBD is stimulating, it will provide the balance you need but too much can make you anxious or make you want to fall asleep in a not so comforting way. No one wants to pass out, don’t do that please. Take your time. Also, if you are taking anything prescribed have a chat with your doctor first and see what they recommend.

CBD Takeaway…

CBD is something you don’t have to rush. Go slow and start low is really the key. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions before buying a product if you are not sure what you need. Most people are happy to help out and make sure you get the right product for you. Not to mention it is great if you are looking for an all natural alternative for many skin and mood issues. As more and more of us turn away from big pharmaceutical companies, we want something that not only works but won’t cause more damage than the pain itself. I believe CBD is that answer.
